History

Joburg Cricket Club’s roots extend back to 1992, when a group of individuals who hailed from the township of Chatsworth in Durban arrived in Johannesburg to establish Chatsworth Old Boys Cricket Club.

This group of cricketers played without a home ground until they were able to secure the rights to use and develop the Maurice Freeman Park in Bertrams, which borders on the Ellis Park Sports Precinct, renaming themselves as Joburg Cricket Club in 2007.

The club has 200 playing members who participate at all levels of competitive league cricket under the auspices of the Gauteng Cricket Board, spanning youth teams from under-9 through to a senior team playing in the Premier League.
