2016 Inner City Corporate Cricket Match

A message from JCC Chair Indarin Govender:

It gives me great pleasure to invite you to our Annual Inner City Corporate Cricket Match on 18 November 2016, which will be played at our Home Ground, Hope Village in Bertrams. This has become our most special day in the calendar for our Club in its quest to do our small part for and through this game that has done so much for us.

It will take the form of a gentle cricket match, played under the “Lord’s Taverners Rules”. Both sides will bat for a maximum of 20 overs, with the team scoring the most runs declared the winner.

The purpose of this event is to gather support for our Inner City Cricket Initiative and its key community development initiates in the area that we have nurtured over the last nine years. It also creates a platform for decision makers to promote Inner City Regeneration and highlight the value of sport as a change agent in the lives of our youngsters.

This event has grown in the hearts and minds of our regular participants and continues to generate wonderful interest from those who have yet to experience this special ‘Joburg Day’.

John Robbie will again cover the event during his morning talk show

We are delighted that Adv. George Bizos and Talk Show Host, John Robbie have again committed to be the driving force behind putting this event together. We are humbled by their commitment to bring their influence to bear upon this event. They have once again called on Business Leaders to make a financial contribution to the Club in lieu of playing a game of cricket at our Home Ground, Hope Village.

Our Long Term partnership with Momentum has become a key catalyst for our work and through their continued involvement we will look to increase and improve our community and social impact in this part of town.

I know you are aware of the social, economic and cultural significance of sport in our diverse society. In this context, JCC is part of the greater vision of transforming this part of town into a major educational centre and sporting capital of Johannesburg and South Africa.

This event gives us an opportunity to thank you for the contributions you have made to the Club as we move towards our stated goals. Please join us in this unique Joburg Event.

I look forward to spending time with you on the day and sharing a meal with you.

Yours Faithfully

Indarin Govender
